ORPHANS PROGRAM – OP

I grow up in a family where my mother supported her relative and non relative, most of them being orphans.
I had a dream of taking care of these orphan/less privileged children in a bit of advance way to give them excellence education, as for them to be able depend themselves and being responsible and productive to the community.”

My dream came true when my husband Khalifa and two business women Ms. Aysharose Mattembe and Muna Mohammed  joined together financially and establish The British School of Zanzibar on 31st  January, 2012 . we started with 3 children one of them being an orphan his name Maimuna Makungu.
With a support of one year tuition fee from a tourist friend Mr. charles Murray from Scotland we managed to add another orphan later Nuru Haji

At the moment BSZ  have got 47 students and support  10% orphans aged 8 – 16 years old.

1. Maimuna Mohamed Makungu – Year 5  11 years old
2. Nuru Haji – Year 6 16 years old
3. Feteh Mbarouk – Year 4 8 years old
4. Islam Shibu – partly supported – Year 3 11 years old

OP Vision and Mission statement.
Spread hope, love and reason into the lives of orphaned and less privileged children.
We aim to support more than 20% orphans/less privileged children of the school enrolment, with your help and assistance, this can change – we aim to reach as many orphaned and less privileged children in our community and our country .
We aim to create lasting partnerships between individuals, and businesses to raise funds and implement sustainable programs to release orphaned and less privileged children from social, economical and physical poverty and enabling them to become responsible and productive citizen.
